SHABBAT: A TAST OF WHOLENESS

Celebrating Shabbat creates
a 'sanctuary in time' through which you can taste peace, deep
joy, and wholeness and from which you are empowered to transform
the world. Celebrating Shabbat opens a door to regain your connection
to the part of you that is one with Oneness. The point of religious
tradition and ritual is not to just know about God, or to mindlessly
perform a series of words and actions. It is to reclaim the experience
of your own soul, the core of your being that is in union with
the Divine. From that Essence you can fulfill your unique purpose
in life -- to reveal, in your unique way, the Divine Self that
is hidden in your world.
The purposes of this book
are:
- To empower you to live with
mindfulness, with consciousness. The practice of 'mindful', intentional
living does not belong only to Buddhism. This book helps you
discover the push for intentional living within Judaism.
- To help you feed your hunger
for connection with God and your inherent wholeness
- To give you a foundation, strength,
and practice in creating a safer, more peace-filled and life-giving
world for all people
- To help you "let God in"
your consciousness, your experience, your decisions, your deeds,
your home, and your entire life
- To help you recover the treasures
of Jewish spirituality that speak powerfully to today's world
- To help you begin and/or deepen
your celebration of Shabbat
- To give you a tool to help you
continue to expand your celebration and integration of Shabbat
experience
I'm so delighted about this
Shabbat: ATaste of Wholeness.
The content is such a delight. It is a wonderful way of making
sure that the tradition
gets respected, understood and at the same time , you talk to
adults.
Rabbi Zalman Schacter
Shalomi
Why is this book different from all other
Shabbat guides?
It is designed for adults wanting
to connect more deeply with Essence and to live a more mindful
life. Whether you are just beginning or have alot of experience,
you can deepen your experience.
It gives a context and practical suggestions for living a more
mindful life and co-creating a better world.
It gives specific suggestions of things you can do to prepare
for Shabbat that can enhance your experience of Sabbath peace
and wholeness AND to help you integrate that into daily life.
A special Resource section gives more suggestions for deepening
your Shabbat celebration, a basic introduction to some of the
Jewish mystical thought connected to Shabbat, format to help
you integrate Shabbat into daily life and to use for meeting
with a friend to further your spiritual development.
Do you know that the traditional songs, Shalom Aleichem, Lecha
Dodi, Yedid Nefesh were all created by Jewish kabbalists?
Do you know the deeper meanings of those songs? Do you know why
the challah is left whole and covered before it is eaten? Brief
explanations and quotes from Talmudic, mystical, and modern sources
help you celebrate more consciously.
The book is 'user friendly':
With spiral binding, it lays
flat on the table.
It includes the Hebrew, a transliteration, and English for the
main prayers and songs.
The essential prayers are not abbreviated. You get the full prayers
for the home celebrations of Shabbat without all the synagogue
prayers.
